Law 8.112/90 for Public Service Exams

This course is for Brazilian public service exams (concursos públicos) and the lessons are taught in Portuguese. Law 8.112 of 1990, the legal regime of Brazilian federal civil servants, appears in almost every federal exam notice, from the CNU to the INSS and the federal courts, and exam boards test the exact wording of the law, swapping a deadline, a subject or a form of appointment. This course starts from zero and explains the law with Professora Helena, article by article, always using the text in force. Part one is entry into office: requirements for investiture in office, the public exam, appointment, taking office within thirty days, starting work within fifteen days, working hours, the probationary period and tenure after three years. Part two is filling and vacating positions: appointment, promotion, reassignment for health reasons, return from retirement, use of an available servant, reinstatement and reversion to the previous post, and the ways a position becomes vacant, such as resignation and dismissal. Part three is transfer, redistribution, substitution and secondment. Part four is rights and benefits: base pay and total pay, allowances, extra pay, vacation, leaves, absences and the right to petition. The last part is the disciplinary regime: duties, prohibitions, holding more than one post, liability, penalties, limitation periods, preliminary inquiry and the administrative disciplinary process. The questions follow the exam-board style, with True or False and multiple choice, and every answer cites the deciding article.
