Solar System for Kids

Beginner

A first trip through the Solar System, made for children aged 6 to 8 and hosted by Lupe, a golden retriever puppy who is discovering everything alongside the child. Eleven short episodes, none longer than four minutes, take the whole neighbourhood one world at a time: the Sun that holds it together, the eight planets in the order they orbit, our own Moon with the astronaut footprints still sitting in its dust, and the comets and shooting stars a child can go outside and look for the same night. Every photograph is a real one from NASA rather than an illustration, shown full-screen and held long enough to actually look at, and every number a child hears is one they can picture: a million Earths inside the Sun, a thousand inside Jupiter, a storm wider than our whole planet. The counting scene invites the child to count the eight planets out loud, and each planet is shown against Earth at its true relative size, because at this age the honest comparison is the lesson. There are no exercises inside the videos and nothing to get wrong: this is a course meant to be watched, wondered at, and asked questions about afterwards.
