Castles and Knights for Kids

Beginner

A castle taken apart for children aged 6 to 8, hosted by Lupe, a golden retriever puppy who discovers everything alongside the child. The course walks one axis, from outside the walls inward: the village where nearly everybody actually lived, the moat and the way in, the wall and its battlements, the courtyard with its well and its blacksmith, the tower where people shut themselves in, and the great hall where everybody ate together. Every piece is explained by what it was FOR rather than by what it looked like — the battlement is half wall and half window, the round corner has no edge to attack, and the whole shape exists to buy time. It also takes apart two things everybody repeats and neither is true: that a knight needed a crane to mount his horse, and that castles were bare grey stone.
