Animals of the Night for Kids

Beginner

Seven episodes for children aged 6 to 8, hosted by Mig, a five-year-old boy who finds everything out alongside the child. The course runs on a clock that only shows the night: it starts when the sun goes down, ends when the sun comes back, and every episode lights one of its marks. It opens with the three reasons so many animals chose the dark — it is cooler, it is calmer, and the food is defenceless — and with the fact that more than half of all the mammals in the world are night animals. Then it meets them one at a time: the barn owl, whose feather has a comb of tiny teeth so her wing makes no noise and whose mismatched ears find a mouse in complete darkness; the fruit bat, who is not blind at all and listens to the shape of the place with echoes, the only mammal in the world that truly flies; the firefly, whose light is cold and is really a message, sent by a wingless female sitting in the grass; the cat, with a real mirror at the back of the eye that uses the same light twice and hands your torchlight back to you; and the moth and the white night flower, who arranged everything without ever talking. It closes at sunrise, with one shift handing over to the other in the very same place.
