Where Food Comes From for Kids

Beginner

Seven episodes for children aged 6 to 8, hosted by Mig, a five-year-old boy who finds everything out alongside the child. The course runs on a plate with six slices, all switched off at the start, and each episode lights one of them. It opens with the correction the whole course is built on: the shop is the LAST stop, not the first one, because before the shop the food was in a place with soil, sun and rain and somebody looked after it for months. Then bread, which begins as a grass called wheat, goes through two heavy stones and rises because yeast is a living creature that eats sugar and lets out bubbles of air. Then milk, with the honest answer to the question every child asks: a cow makes milk after she has a calf, and milk is the calf's food. Then the egg, a little box with thousands of holes too small to see, which never becomes a chick because there is no rooster in the story. Then honey, where one bee makes one drop in her whole life and the real lesson is the yellow dust that turns a flower into a fruit. Then the garden, and which part of the plant we eat: root, leaf or fruit. And it closes on chocolate, a fruit that grows stuck to the trunk, whose raw seed tastes of nothing like chocolate until three steps afterwards give it the taste.
