Ten episodes for children aged 6 to 8, hosted by Ben, a seven-year-old boy who discovers gravity at work instead of just being told about it. The course runs on a gravity staircase with ten stops, all switched off at the start, and each episode lights one, starting on the ground and ending in the sea. It opens with the plainest fact there is: everything you let go of falls, because the Earth pulls it down, and the fall keeps speeding up — proven with an apple, a book, a ball and the rain, never the ceiling. Then a race between a feather and a stone shows that air, not weight, decides who falls slower, settled for good by the real Moon experiment where a hammer and a feather touched the ground together with no air at all. Then weight, which turns out to be nothing but the size of the Earth's pull on you, read off a bathroom scale. Then gravity caught doing useful work: a waterfall, a ramp, a playground slide, a sled on snow, all the same force, just given a path. Then a ball thrown straight up, which climbs while braking, pauses for a real instant, and falls back down, because gravity never once let go. Then a swing, a pendulum and a yo-yo, which always return to the very same lowest point. Then balance itself: you stand while your weight falls inside the base your feet make, and topple the moment it does not, the same rule that keeps stacked stones up and lets the leaning tower of Pisa stay standing for centuries without ever promising it will fall. Then the Moon, where the very same child weighs six times less. Then the biggest question of all: why the Moon never falls on us, because it is falling forever and always racing sideways just fast enough to miss. And it closes on the sea, pulled into a bulge on both sides of the Earth at once, which is why the tide comes in about twice a day, never once.
