Safety When We're Out, for Kids

Beginner

Eight episodes for children aged 6 to 8, hosted by Mig, a five-year-old boy who follows one loop around the neighborhood, lighting up a new stop each episode: home, sidewalk, playground, supermarket, mall, beach, school gate, and back home again. The course follows the well-known 'Check First' child-safety guidance: a stranger is just someone you haven't met yet, most people are kind, and nobody can be judged safe or unsafe by their face or their clothes — only by what they ask for, with any doubt going straight to a grown-up. It teaches the handful of requests worth pausing on, always framed gently and without a single frightening word: an offer of a treat or a pet to go somewhere, a request to keep an uncomfortable secret, or someone saying a grown-up sent them, checked against the family's own code word. If a child ever gets separated, the course teaches a calm, repeatable plan — stop right where you are, never wander off alone, and call your grown-up's name until a trustworthy helper, someone with a badge, a uniform, or a family of their own nearby, can help. It also teaches that a good surprise, like a hidden party, is different from a secret that makes your tummy feel strange, and that the second kind is always told, with the reassurance repeated throughout: telling is never getting anyone in trouble, and the child is never at fault. The course closes by putting a loud, confident voice in a child's hands — the right to say no, run to a grown-up, and yell — before the whole loop closes safely back at the family's own front door.
